Kirkstone sponsor RIBA exhibition and open second showroom

Kirkstone, who produce stone from two quarries in the Cumbrian National Park and were one of the first British quarries to complement their indigenous range with imports, have always distinguished their marketing with high quality photographs.

One of the reasons their photographs are so good is because they are taken by one of the country\'s top architectural photographers, Timothy Soar.

The combination of Soar and Kirkstone brought together an exhibition of photographic portraits of the some of the leading British architects at the RIBA Gallery in Portland Place, London, last month (February).

Called Architects in Practice, the exhibition featured photographs of 100 of the UK\'s most eminent architects - names such as Allies and Morrison, AHMM, Burd Haward, Edward Cullinan Architects, Eric Parry Architects, Pringle Brandon, and Rogers Stirk Harbour + PartnersÖ the list goes on - in their own interiors. Illustrative examples of their work were placed alongside the portraits.

"I can\'t say all 100 architects featured in the exhibition have used stone from the Kirkstone portfolio but I\'m very much looking forward to them doing so," Nick Fecitt, Managing Director of Kirkstone, told NSS.

Although the exhibition at Portland Place finished at the end of February, there is still an opportunity to see the photographs of Tim Soar at Kirkstone\'s new showroom in Kendal in the Lake District.
