Marble Ideas in Uxbridge has won new contracts to supply an existing customer’s businesses in Birmingham and Manchester, which has prompted the rapidly growing trade worktop supplier to move into new premises that give it three-and-a-half times more space at 3,500m2.
The decision has turned out well for Andy Bell of National Masonry. As reported in the previous issue of NSS, National Masonry has just supplied Marble Ideas with three replacement MarmoMeccanica LCV711 vertical edge polishers.
When Andy went to see Marble Ideas in October he was surprised to be given an order for two, £80,000 five-axes Emmedue bridge saws. “I only dropped in for a cup of tea,” says Andy.
Steve Buck of Marble Ideas had been to Marmomacc in Verona to look for a CNC workcentre, which he wants to work the new sintered stone products. While he was there he checked out the bridge saws and liked the look of the Emmedues. “They seemed the most spec’d up for the money,” he told NSS.
With his new premises secured on his return to the UK about three miles from his existing factory (which he plans to convert into units to rent out) he decided to buy two of the Emmedues.
“We’re reinvesting in machinery to make sure we have the right level of production and quality,” says Steve. “We have to go with the times, I can’t afford to be left behind.”
As for the workcentre, Steve says he has narrowed it down to two but he has not yet decided which one to go for.
