The Clock Barn in Whitchurch, Hampshire, is a wedding venue normally hosting 3-4 of the events a week. Greener Landscapes, based in nearby Winchester, was contracted to install a hard wearing, durable paved area, as the existing paving was smaller and the garden suffered from the high footfall.
To better cope with the wedding parties the lawn area was reduced and the hard paving area increased to allow for year-round entertaining and socialising.
The paved area was designed to be large enough to put up marquees for extra covered space when needed. Tuscan limestone from ethical stone hard landscaping supplier Talasey was chosen for the paving because it is hard wearing and has a rustic attraction that complements the 19th century barn and clock tower from which the venue takes its name.
There are resin paths (good for heels) and all entrances are ramped for disabled access and no trip hazzards.
The paving was laid during the winter quiet time for the venue, which, like everyone else, was taken by surprise by the Covid-19 re-strictions that followed in the spring last year. Greener Landscapes completed the work in five weeks in time for Valentine’s Day.
