Ardex fix it for Watson Stonecraft
The use of stone in interiors continues to be one of the fastest growing sectors of the stone industry. A contributory factor to this success is the development of products for fixing stone - products from companies such as Ardex, a market leader in premium performance tile fixing products and support services.
Ardex will be back at the Natural Stone Show in March next year showing a range of products on their stand and demonstrating some of them in the Demonstration Zone to give the trade and specifiers a better understanding of what a difference the right product makes to a finished project.
One of the products they will be showing is Ardex S20, a rapid hardening natural stone adhesive that has been used for the impressive new BBC Scotland Headquarters at Pacific Quay, Glasgow.
Bovis Lend Lease commissioned specialist stone contractors Watson Stonecraft to choose the ideal fixing solution for 1,500m2 of Lazenby stone in various areas within the building, including the main reception, audience corridors and lift cars.
Ardex S20 is an advanced solution for the installation of uncalibrated stone as it can be applied in an adhesive bed of between 5mm and 20mm thick.
Like all Ardex natural stone products, Ardex S20 incorporates the Ardex Rapidry Formula technology developed to provide practical solutions to water staining that can occur on stone when moisture from adhesives and grouts is absorbed, reacting with minerals such as iron oxides or organic deposits that can discolour the face and / or edges of the tiles.
Rapidry Formula technology locks the mix water within the mortar, virtually eliminating the risk of water staining.
Another benefit of Ardex S20 is its rapid, controlled drying and hardening, which allows a stone floor to be walked on and grouted only three hours after fixing.
