New blue paving range from Woodkirk
York stone company Woodkirk have started producing a range of blue paving from the stone at the base of their quarry in Morley, Leeds. The stone has a compressive strength of 108N/mm2 and excellent wet and dry slip resistance, say Woodkirk. The new stone has a consistent texture and has been found in abundance in the newly opened bed below the previously worked buff-grey sandstone. Woodkirk, the operation of which was taken over last year by a new company headed by Phil Hutchins, previously with Ennstone, have plenty of production capacity in their factory to convert the stone for large orders.
