New company offers waterjet engraving

A new company, Water Jet UK Ltd, has been set up in Ripponden, West Yorkshire, offering what it believes is a unique service of waterjet engraving.

Normally waterjet cutting goes right through the stone but Karl Asbridge, who has set up Water Jet UK, has developed software to control the speed and water pressure so that letters and designs can be cut without going all the way through the stone.

Karl says the advantage is that the centre of designs, such as the middles of the letters \'P\' and \'A\' that would normally be cut out or have to be designed to remain connected to the rest of the letter, remain in place.

Using the accuracy of waterjet cutting means that inserts in contrasting stone or other materials can be cut to complete the letters.

The service being offered by Karl will allow companies laying stone floors or putting up stone lining in offices to offer, for example, to incorporate the company\'s name and/or logo into the work.

As well as engraving, he is also offering normal waterjet cutting of stone, or any other material, for customers who need accurate, intriciate designs to be produced.
