Obituary: Theresa Quinn
Theresa Quinn, who worked ceaselessly for the National Association of Memorial Masons (NAMM) for 20 years, 11 of them of as its National Executive Officer, died as the result of a car crash on the A5 at Leighton Buzzard on Thursday, 31 October. This is a tribute to her by Moya Harvey, NAMM President 1988-1990.
Theresa first became involved with NAMM in the 1970s when she went to work for Maxted Jones, whose company was employed as the secretariat.
During the early part of the 1980s NAMM decided it could run its own office under the leadership of the Executive Director employed at the time with Theresa doing the secretarial work.
In 1989 NAMM had some serious problems and Theresa took over the running of Head Office. Fortunately for NAMM, Theresa stayed with the Association when she felt things were not right. We were all extremely pleased she did.
Theresa was subsequently appointed National Executive Officer and had other members of staff to help her.
Over the years, Theresa was actively involved in fostering relationships with our Cemetery and Churchyard Authorities as well as our allied trade associations, she attended many conferences, at home and abroad, and helped the Conference Committee to run the Tradex exhibition and Craftex competition.
Her loyalty and dedication to NAMM was greatly appreciated by members of the Association.
On a personal note, Theresa made my time as President, when there was much to sort out, rewarding and worthwhile. I valued her friendship and guidance.
I have lost a great friend and so has the Association.
Our condolences to John, Shaun, Andrea and Damien.
