Princess Anne unveils Scottish police memorial

Princess Anne the Princess Royal has unveiled a memorial in Blue Pearl granite to nearly 200 Scottish police officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty since they were formed in 1770.

The memorial was made by the Co-operative Funeralcare\'s monumental masons, who also erected the three stones that comprise it at the Scottish Police College at Tulliallan, Fife.

As The Princess unveiled the stones she was watched by 400 trainees at the college and during the ceremony the names of the 191 police officers that are inscribed on the stones were read aloud.

Representatives of the Association of Chief Police Officers Scotland, the Association of Scottish Police Superintendents, the Police Federation and the Scottish Police College joined the Princess in laying wreaths in front of the stones.
