£727,644 - the bill for the first HSE Fees for Intervention

The Health & Safety Executive says the sum raised from its first £124-an-hour Fees for Intervention is £727,644.

It has said previously (see '40% of first HSE Fees for Intervention go to construction firms') that 40% of the 903 companies that received a bill in the first two months of the scheme (from the beginning of October when it was introduced to the end of November) were from the construction industry.

Those 903 companies received 1,418 notification of contravention forms/letters or formal Enforcement Notices at an average cost of £513 each.

The Health & Safety Executive once again reiterates that all companies have to do to avoid the Fees is ensure they comply with health & safety regulations.
