Pumpable hydraulic lime mortar from EasiPoint has enabled specialist contractors G Reed & Sons of Preston to achieve the authentic finish required for the restoration of walls surrounding Clitheroe Castle, which overlooks the market town in Lancashire\'s Ribble Valley.

A tonne of EasiPoint Restor-ation Mortar was used by Reed to renew the joints in 100m2 of sandstone walling dating back to the 15th century.

Trevor Eidsforth of Reed says: "Weather penetration and the vegetation meant the joints were in a poor state - there were large voids. Using the gun-injection system allowed us to fill the voids in areas we could never have accessed using a trowel."

The repointing is part of the first phase of improvements. A second, £3.2million phase begins in September.
