Following the success of courses in working Purbeck Marble at quarry company W J Haysom & Son last year, two further courses are now planned. These five-day workshops, part of the Purbeck Keystone Project, will run 23-27 July and 30 July-3 August. Bursaries may be available. The courses will include a talk on the history of the use of Purbeck Marble and an excursion to view the Marble outcrop, the discovery of which led to the courses being run.

The courses are open to professionals as well as students of masonry and will involve working the stone as far as possible using methods that date back to medieval times. There is a limit of eight students per week. To apply, contact Sue Haysom. Email: haysom@purbeckstone.co.uk.
