Ready-to-use panels give stone a new dimension
British quarry company Stancliffe and Belgium suppliers Beltrami have both come up with modular systems to make their products easier to use.
Stancliffe\'s development is called PanAsh, which is curtain walling as a layered system comprising an outer skin of natural sandstone, a ventilated gap and a waterproof backing wall.
Panel sizes currently range from 450mm x 300mm up to 750mm x 500mm, with the stone ranging from 35mm to 40mm thick, depending on the nature of the project.
Stancliffe do not want to give away too much about the product, but say PanAsh was developed by a team from four companies that have worked on a variety of prestigious projects throughout the UK and Europe.
Technology has increased the means and knowledge to build with natural sandstone, says Stancliffe\'s Ian Robottom.
Beltrami\'s modular development comes in the Beltralinea line of tile strips shown at last year\'s Natural Stone Show at ExCeL, London. The whole range is available from the company\'s warehouse in Dudley, West Midlands. the new product is called Beltralinea Stoneskin, which has the Beltra-linea strips bonded together in panels to make installation easier and quicker.
As the name suggests, Stoneskin is made by using the natural stone manufactured into a panel that can be used for exterior or interior wall cladding.
