Realstone negotiations continue

Iain Kennedy, Managing Director of Realstone.

Realstone, in Administration since 18 May, has now had its site in Wingerworth, Derbyshire, closed down and all the remaining employees have been made redundant.

The move follows seven weeks of keeping operations open to convert raw material stone into finished goods for sale while in Administration. It had originally been hoped to sell the business as a going concern, but an initial buyer pulled out.

The Administrators say a party from the stone and quarry sector might buy the assets of Realstone and the shares of Block Stone, its sister company that quarries stone, which is not in Administration.
