Samsung launches new marble-look hard surface

Samsung SDI, the Korean manufacturer of a vast range of products that includes Radianz quartz, introduced in 2009 and sold by Gerald Culliford and Thomas Group in the UK, introduces a new collection called Supreme to its Staron brand this month (September). The Staron products are solid surfaces, not quartz, and are not part of the offer from the UK stone wholesalers.

The 10 launch versions of Supreme put Samsung in contention with the marble-look products that are currently on-trend.

Supreme was developed to capitalise on the features of natural marbles and, says Samsung, "captures the luxurious and genuine colour and wave pattern of the natural marble". It says it is hard to distinguish the Supreme products from genuine natural stones.

During the launch in South Korea on 31 August, Vincent Gregoire, the General Director of the worldwide French design trend consulting firm Nelly-Rodi, spoke about design trends and enthused about Supreme. "Supreme is a unique product which enhances the features of the natural stone," he said. "It is expected to attract great interest from the industry."

SangKook Lee, Vice President of Samsung SDI Architectural Product Team, said: "The launching of premium solid surface Supreme will serve as a momentum for us to build up the leading status in the global solid surface market.”
