Singleton Birch to cut prices as they aim for half UK hydraulic lime mortar market
Singleton Birch, who have taken over the production of England's Hl2 hydraulic lime mortars, have launched a campaign to take half the UK market.
They believe the UK buys around 25,000 tonnes of lime a year for both conservation and new build, most of it currently supplied by French company St Astier. Last year the Hl2 brand sold just 600 tonnes. Singleton Birch aim to sell 20 times that amount. Announcing the ambitious growth plan to Hl2 distributors at Singleton Birch's production plant at Barnetby, Lincolnshire, last month (April) sales director Daryl Birden said: "We accept we are going to have to be competitive on price. People have said to me our price structure is a little bit out of kilter with our competition. Well, it won't be."
They also aim to increase the range and provide more test result information for users.
