The Angel Awards, which recognise the contribution made by volunteers to conserving the nation's built heritage, will be back at Andrew Lloyd Webber's Palace Theatre in Shaftesbury Avenue on 22 October.
The Awards last year were a spectacular, star-studded event, hosted by Lord Webber himself. If you would like to see some of last year's winning projects and read about the Awards event, click here.
This year once again sees at least some stone in most of the short-listed projects.
The Awards are presented by English Heritage, but faced with all the public sector cuts, the organisation has enlisted the help of Lord Webber and a host of celebrities to spread the cost of the event. And such theatrical talent certainly showed last year that it knows how to make an Awards ceremony something special. It was certainly not a run-of-the-mill event and there is every indication it will be just as impressive this year.
And if the event itself is impressive, so is the work that groups around the country have carried out to take some of the nation's built heritage out of danger of collapsing.
You can read about this year's short-listed projects and see photographs of them, as well as finding out more about the Angel Awards, on the English Heritage website. To go the Angel Awards pages, click here.
