New company supplies sandstone for heritage market

Nick Rymer, formerly with Hollington stone quarry company Staffordshire Stone, has set up a new company called Historic Stone to supply a range of sandstones to the conservation / heritage market.

Nick, who has been joined in the enterprise by Jonathan Dale, who was involved in the development of the French company Rocamat in the UK, says he will offer grey gritstone and red and buff sandstones from quarries in the UK.

The first stone available from Historic Stone is a red sandstone from the Worcestershire-Shropshire borders, the first block of which has just been under the saw (pictured above). Nick says the stone from seven other quarries will be rolled out during the year. “I do know the industry pretty well and I do know what are good stones. I have worked very hard to find the right stones,” he told NSS.
