Building Crafts College makes its contribution to Olympics’ High Street 2012

High Street 2012 was initiated by Design for London with the London Borough of Tower Hamlets to enhance and celebrate a series of interconnected high streets that link the City at Aldgate to the Olympic Park at Stratford. Among the enhancements designed by architects from the practice of Muff were these Portland limestone sculptures carved by the stonemasonry department of London’s Building Crafts College (some of it, in Altab Ali Park, was featured in the May issue of NSS) that bring elements of the surrounding architecture into the street. The project finished just in time for the opening of the Olympics.
