With Derby’s new-look Westfield shopping centre on their doorstep, Charcon Hard Landscaping were especially pleased to be chosen as the suppliers of an entire package of sandstone, granite and concrete hard landscaping for the £340million redevelopment scheme to regenerate the southern part of Derby city centre.
Charcon, based at nearby Hulland Ward, Ashbourne, supplied 5,000m2 of materials, including Appalachian Black Fleck, Moordale Natural Granite and Highmoor sandstone flag paving, Woburn Rumbled block paving and kerb products and Countryside and EcoKerb kerbs.
Owners Westfield and Hermes and Derby-based Latham Architects wanted to use local firms where possible. Gary Thorogood-Page, Senior Landscape Architect at Lathams, says they wanted a range of hard landscaping that would complement the buildings, the stone flooring inside the new shopping centre and the general colour and texture palette found in Derby city centre.
