There's a lot of stone at the Angel Awards being presented on 31 October

There will be a lot of stone to be seen in the projects that have been short-listed for the inaugural English Heritage Angel Awards. The Awards are being presented at a glittering ceremony hosted by TV Presenter Clare Balding on 31 October at Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Palace Theatre in London.

The awards were launched by English Heritage, backed by Andrew Lloyd Webber, in June. They celebrate the work of individuals and groups who have saved a significant historic place that was at risk of being lost forever.

You might have seen the projects featured on BBC Two's Culture Show in September. The Telegraph is also backing the Awards.
