TPS Schal win South Kensington improvements

The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea has awarded management of the prestigious Exhibition Road corridor enhancement project to TPS Schal following a competitive tender.

The multi-million pound project involves improvements to the streetscape along Exhibition Road from South Kensington underground station to Hyde Park.

According to the design brief it should produce "a more attractive and stimulating pedestrian environment and an elegant and inspiring streetscape that will provide a platform for public art while reinforcing the distinctive character of South Kensington as a centre of cultural and educational activity".

TPS Schal have experience in implementing this type of high-profile public project involving numerous authorities and stakeholders - they were the project managers at the award-winning re-modelling of Trafalgar Square where Stonewest carried out the stonework.

Final concepts for the works are just approaching completion and public consultation, design and procurement will take place later this year with construction expected to start in 2006.
