Training: Safety Inspection and Assessment of Memorials in Burial Grounds course 19 March – book now

A one-day course on Safety Inspection and Assessment of Memorials in Burial Grounds is to be held by the National Association of Memorial Masons in Rugby on 19 March.

The course will be held in close proximity to a cemetery and is based on Ministry of Justice guidelines ‘Managing the Safety of Burial Ground Memorials’. It will focus on a risk assessment-based approach. All aspects of memorial assessment will be covered, from understanding different types of natural stone and the way in which they change with time, to memorial construction and how this might impact decisions on safety. The important area of ‘making safe’ will also be included.

The morning will be spent in the classroom studying in-depth theory and the afternoon will be spent putting the theory into practice.

Where students wish to obtain a formal qualification in the ‘Safety Inspection & Assessment of Memorials’ (and not all do) the training will be followed at a later date with an examination both written and practical.

This examination and assessment will last for half a day and successful candidates will be awarded a formal and nationally accredited NAMM City & Guilds NPTC Certificate of Competence for the Safety Inspection and Assessment of Memorials.

Course fees: NAMM Members £175 + VAT / Non Members £300 + VAT

NAMM C&G NPTC Assessment Fee for the Qualification: £250 + VAT
(Assessment can only be offered to those who have completed the NAMM Training)
