The Stoneguard Phoenix cemetery design awards scheme is to be part of the Architecture Festival in Parma, Italy, in October. The competition to encourage the design of better cemeteries attracts international interest with applications for this year\'s event already having been received from Argentina, Canada, Italy, Portugal, USA and the UK.

The project at the Parma Festival will highlight funerary art and cemetery architecture by focussing on entries in the 2006 Phoenix competition and the scheme\'s aims, objectives and achievements since it was launched in 1984.
