Silestone quartz composite producers Cosentino have appointed Christophe Gontier as managing director of their UK subsidiary.

Formerly managing director of kitchen appliance company FagorBrandt UK, Christophe will head the UK\'s Woking-based subsidiary set up in 2002 with its 2,000m2 warehouse in Watford, Hertfordshire, that holds up to 7,000 slabs of Silestone quartz and natural granite worksurfaces.

Cosentino believe the market in the UK and Ireland has yet to be developed to its full potential and Christophe\'s brief is to get it to that potential.

Christophe says: This is a fantastic opportunity and a challenge for me. I will provide my knowledge, dedication, loyalty and commitment to make Cosentino UK the best in the business. The stone industry is very young, exciting and innovative and it\'s my intention to build the Silestone brand to where it is elsewhere in the world making it the leading worksurface brand and the one that people ask for.
