Video: Cosentino launches new kind of hard surface for stonemasons

Cosentino, the Spanish stone company that makes Silestone quartz surfaces, is building a 500,000m2 factory at its headquarters in Spain to make the next generation of hard surface, which it calls Dekton.

Cosentino believes Dekton will provide as much extra business for stone companies as Silestone (and other quartz composites) did when it was launched in 1990.

Dekton is made using a patented combination of the technologies of porcelain and float glass. The initial production target when Dekton is launched in April next year (2013) is 1,500 large format (3.2m x 1.44m) slabs a day.

You can read more about Dekton in the next issue of Natural Stone Specialist magazine and you can watch a video of Cosentino President Francisco Martinez-Cosentino talking about the new product and its relationship to stone processors below.
