WARNING: Bogus show catalogue forms are still being distributed
WARNING: The rip-off exhibition catalogue compilers are at it again. They send out forms that look as if they are sanctioned by the show organisers requesting information for a catalogue entry. The compilers are always based overseas and always want hundreds of pounds for entries. The latest show to be targeted is the National Funeral Exhibition, although some of the exhibitors at last year’s Natural Stone Show were also emailed these forms.
One company that inadvertently filled in one of the forms and returned it told NSS it had subsequently received several letters threatening legal action and winding up. It still did not pay and eventually the letters stopped, but reaching that point can be disturbing.
It is easier to avoid it by checking that the entry you fill in for a show's catalogue is from the organiser and is going back to the organiser. And because exhibition organisers want to include all their exhibitors in their catalogues, both online and hard copy, the entry will normally be free, even if there are also advertising opportunities within the catalogues that will obviously have to be paid for.
