Waters introduce low price mitre saw

There was a chance to see the new mitre saw, just added to the machinery offered by the Waters Group, at the Marmomacc exhibition in Verona at the start of this month.

The machine (pictured on the right) is called the Farnese Mitre Saw and is made in Australia, where it is proving popular, with 90 already sold. It could prove popular in the UK as well with a delivered price of £20,000.

The makers were not exhibiting in Verona, but the saw was shown on the König stand. König are the makers of the Mitre Forma clamps that Waters sell and which their sales engineer, Jim Smith, is pictured (right) demonstrating on König’s stand along with the Integra adhesive used for glueing the mitres – and it makes a bond which is as strong as the stone.

The mitre saw is reputedly accurate, fast and easy to use with minimal training. A straight edge is achieved by a stop on the front edge and pneumatic clamps that hold the stock in place. The saw is 3,850 x 600mm with a cutting stroke of 3,250mm using a 350mm blade on a 3.7kW three-phase spindle.

If you didn’t see it in Verona, you can get more details from the Farnese website (www.farnese.com.au).

Waters say they were also approached by Blick, the suction cup manufacturers, in Verona and will now be selling the brand in the UK and Ireland and have taken on distributorship of Galeski machines and tools, although not exclusively.

Waters Group Managing Director, Nicola Waters, says there will be more additions to their ranges as discussions started in Verona reach fruition.

Waters Group were also on the stand of Thibaut, the French machinery manufacturers they represent in the UK and Ireland, showing a new reciprocating saw attachment to enable the TC650 to cut square inside corners – more about that on the report from the exhibition on page 14.

Nicola says: “There was business to be done and we did it!”
