WELSH CAVALRY COMMEMORATED IN SLATE
Inigo Jones & Co Ltd in Caernarfon, Wales, are proud to have been involved in the erection of the 2-ton monolith in Welsh slate pictured on the right. Standing more than 4m high, it has been erected at the National Memorial Arboretum at Alrewas in Staffordshire to the Welsh cavalry regiment, the 1st The Queens Dragoon Guards. The slate comes from the quarry of Blaenau Ffestiniog in North Wales. There could not have been a more appropriate stone. The monument is pictured during its dedication service performed by Regimental Chaplain Padre A Bennett CF on Sunday 24 July. John Lloyd, Managing Director of Inigo Jones, was among those at the ceremony. He told NSS: “ We are absolutely delighted to have helped to provide this Welsh slate monolith that is a fitting tribute to those brave soldiers from the 1st The Queens Dragoon Guards.”
