William Anelay proud of Gary Shea

Everyone at William Anelay, the York- and Manchester-based stone and conservation specialist, is particularly proud of site manager Gary Shea, who was a finalist in the Construction Manager of the Year Awards last year.

Gary, who has been with William Anelay since 2004, was nominated for his work on the award-winning Florence Institute renovation in Liverpool (Florence Institute is said to be the oldest purpose-built boys club in the UK). The renovation transformed a fire-gutted shell into a modern, flourishing community base.

Gary was nominated for the Award by the Chair of the Trustees of the Florence Institute, Denise Bernard, supported by David Boves, the Project Director from Buro Four.

Gary did not win, but did well to reach the finals and was at Grosvenor House Hotel at the end of October for the Awards presentations.

Gary says of his nomination for the Award: “In truth it’s recognition for all of those who were involved in what was a very complex restoration project.”
