"William gets £10,000 from QEST to continue studies"

London stonecarver William Davies (26) has been awarded a £10,000 QEST Scholarship to continue his studies on the graduate diploma course in historical stone carving at City & Guilds of London Art School.

William has already been involved with projects as prestigious as Windsor Castle and Temple Bar with masons CWO in Chichester, where he worked for four years. His particular interest now is Early English Gothic.

He says: "I am thrilled to have won a QEST award. The whole process of applying for the Scholarship†is†very straightforward, whatever†your working background or skill."

The Queen Elizabeth Scholar-ship Trust (QEST) has awarded more than £1million to craftspeople of all ages, including many stone workers, to enable them to continue their studies since it was established in 1991.

Application forms for the next awards are on the website. Closing date is 11 January.
