Winchester Cathedral to hold stone festival in July
Winchester Cathedral is planning to run a stone festival at the cathedral on the weekend of 8-10 July. It hopes it will become a regular event.
The cathedral hopes to attract stonemasons from cathedrals around the UK to the event and that the Festival will attract crowds to the cathedral to see the masons at work.
Visitors will be able tour the cathedral workshops and enjoy the festival atmosphere. There will also be musical entertainment.
Carvings will be auctioned at the end of the event to raise funds for the Cathedral’s appeal, although admission for visitors will be free.
