WorldSkills: Archie gets Silver

Stonemason Archie brings back a Silver for the UK from WorldSkills Abu Dhabi.

Congratulations to Archie Stoke-Faiers who represented British stonemasonry at the WorldSkills competition in Abu Dhabi this month (15-18 October). He gained a Silver Medal.

Archie, who trained at Weymouth College, runs his own workshop in The Town Mill in Lyme Regis, Dorset, where you can see him carving and sculpting.

He was part of the 34-strong Team UK, which had 34 competitors in 30 skills.

The competition this year was the 44th WorldSkills and the biggest ever. There were 1,250 competitors from 58 countries competing in 51 skills from construction, fashion, IT, engineering, social & personal services and logistics/transport. During the four days of the event it was visited by more than 100,000 people.

Winner of the Gold Medal in Architectural Stonemasonry was Pablo Paulo from Brazil. Congratulations to him, too.
