Work has begun on Bristol\'s largest city centre regeneration programme since the post-World War Two reconstruction. Award winning architects Stanton Williams have been appointed by developers Bristol Alliance, a partnership between Land Securities and Hammerson, to develop the detailed design for the development within the previously approved masterplan.
Portland limestone company Albion Stone are supplying 195m3 of Bowers Roach and Whitbed for the anchor House of Fraser department store while 12,000m2 of Cadeby Stone\'s Cadeby White limestone from Yorkshire, with a little Yellow and some black Dry Rig silt stone is being used externally for the rest of project. Much of the stone is being sent to Techrete\'s Dublin factory for fixing on to precast panels, although there will be some handset.
The £500million regeneration project involves the creation of a new city quarter at the end of the M32. It will include 100,000m2 of retail and leisure space.
