Official figures released by the Office for National Statistics today (11 July) show construction output continued to rise in May, increased by 3.5% compared with the same month last year. Noth new work and repair & maintenance showed improvements, new work up 3.7% and repair & maintenance up 3.1%.

New housing provided the largest contribution, with both public and private housing seeing substantial increases – 29.3% in the case of public housing and 16.8% for private housing. Private industrial new work also increased.
