Construction remains a high risk industry

The latest figures from the Health & Safety Executive show construction remains a high risk industry – and became a little more high risk in 2010/11 as the number of deaths increased to 50. Construction accounted for about 5% of all employees in Britain but for 27% of fatal injuries and 9% of major injuries. About 2.3million working days were lost in construction due to self-reported work-related illness or injury.
