Electrical giants Samsung enter worktop market

The diverse Korean company Samsung that is involved in activities from plant construction to fashion but is probably best known for its consumer electrical goods, has entered the quartz worktop market with a product called Radianz.

They launched the Radianz range in the UK at a reception in Wyndham Grand Hotel, Chelsea, at a price point intended to be just below market leaders Silestone.

If they seem a little late into the market, they say it is because they have a reputation for quality that they did not want to risk by introducing an inferior product, so they spent as much time as necessary to perfect the best product they could.

Available in 30 colours, including five top-of-the-range ‘Noble’ versions produced by giving the chips a metallic coating, Samsung believe Radianz has something for any kitchen, from the traditional through to cutting edge contemporary designs.

The slabs are offered in 12, 20 and 30mm thicknesses and in Standard and Jumbo sizes. Samsung are offering a 15-year limited warranty for residential use and 10 years for commercial use.

Radianz is available from two distributors, Ashlar Mason in the South and The Thomas Group in the North. Regional fabricators are being sought and Samsung assure all potential partners that the products and brand will enjoy substantial marketing and product training support. They say their aim is to make Radianz the leading quartz brand in a relatively short period of time.

Nick Troy, Key Accounts Manager at Ashlar Mason, says they were approached in November last year to be Radianz distributors in the UK. They liked the product and have added it to their stock, although they are also still selling alternative brands.

Nick said: “We have been in the market for 15 years selling quartz. We know the product and we really think Radianz is something good.”

The whole range of colours will be in stock in the UK by the end of July. It is hoped by then the range might include a pure white, which Samsung did not want to include until they were confident it really was white.
