Job support scheme extended

More help for businesses forced to close down as a result of Covid-19.

The government’s Job Support Scheme is being expanded to protect jobs and support businesses required to close as a result of coronavirus restrictions and local or national lockdowns, Chancellor Rishi Sunak announced today (9 October).

The government will pay up to two-thirds of employees’ salaries (up to a maximum of £2,100 a month) and give cash grants up to £3,000 per month to businesses required to close. The support is intended to make it easier for the business to start up again once the threat is over.
