The Tile Association (TTA) has joined the campaign Get Britain Building (GBB). It is a coalition of organisations from the construction sector that is calling for a new business environment to help the industry thrive and prosper.
The campaign calls for a minimum of control, regulation, and taxation.
Construction employs 7million people in the UK and represents 9% of GDP. GBB was established to give the small and medium sized enterprises that form the majority of the sector one strong voice.
It calls on the government to:
- build more homes, complete existing projects, bring empty houses back into habitation
- invest in the existing housing stock to improve its condition, including taking energy saving measures
- reduce VAT to 5% for home improvements
- actually spend money already allocated for capital works such as schools, colleges, hospitals & prisons.
Liquidity, responsible bank lending, available credit insurance and prompt payments are the core of what Get Britain Building is campaigning for, says TTA.
