A four-year programme to create ukwarmemorials.org, a website containing information about all the war memorials in the UK, was announced in February by First World War Government Minister Helen Grant when she visited the Grade II listed Watford Peace Memorial.

The website is intended to provide easy access to specialist knowledge about war memorials and tap into expert advice on how best to look after them and restore them. This includes how to get grants for conservation work and how to go about getting memorials listed.

The development and maintenance of the website will be funded from fines on banks that manipulated lending rates.
