ITV weather forecaster Emma Jesson is forecasting a great time at the new central London venue for the Tile Awards presentations on Friday (25 April).
She will be hosting the event as it leaves Birmingham and moves to the Hilton Metropole in London's Edgware Road. It also become a lunchtime event, rather than being held in the evening, with the aim of making it more accessible to a wider audience.
There is a lot of stone featuring among the projects that have been shortlisted for the Awards. Among the finalists is Tate Britain in the category for the best use of tile in the leisure or hospitality industry. Stone specialist on the project was London-based company Szerelmey.The project included truly stunning terrazzo from Agglotech Marmocento, which has established a company in the UK to launch internationally.
The new Library of Birmingham, with Purbeck floors laid by specialists WB Simpsons & Sons (Midlands), is another major stone project, which has been entered in the category for the best use of tiles in a commercial contract.
In the domestic category, all four of the short-listed projects included stone.
