Entries are invited for the first Natural Stone Sustainability Awards, launched by Stone Federation Great Britain as part of its ongoing sustainability strategy.
The aim of the awards is to highlight the sustainable qualities of natural stone by rewarding outstanding achievements, awareness and innovation.
There are several award categories ranging from the design or concept of a building, through to the extraction process and the use of BREEAM sustainability ratings covering landscaping, sustainable cleaning, waste management plans and use of rainwater.
Project nominations can be made by the architect, building owner, main or stone contractor, materials supplier or any other person involved in the project.
Projects must be within the United Kingdom and must have been completed. The entry fee is £75 plus VAT.
A panel of expert judges will identify those entries that demonstrate the positive elements of sustainability and wider environmental issues.
Entries must be returned by Friday 11 February and the winners will be announced on 16 March, the Sustainability Day at The Natural Stone Show at ExCel London.
Stone Federation Chief Executive Jane Buxey says: “As we all become more environmentally aware it is important that we draw attention to the sustainability of natural stone and the care the industry takes to consider environmental issues.”
