SPAB introduces craftsperson category to its awards

SPAB relaunches its Heritage Awards

SPAB relaunches its Heritage Awards for 2022 with a new category to recognise craftspeople involved in the heritage market.

SPAB (the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings) has introduced a Building Craftsperson of the Year category to its Heritage Awards, which are relaunched for 2022.

It is one of three new categories it has added this time and like all the categories, is open to anyone working in the UK and Ireland, although you must be under the age of 30 or be new to your trade following a career move. The closing date for entries is 28 March 2022. Any crafts used in looking after ancient buildings are eligible, which of course includes stonemasonry.

SPAB Director Matthew Slocombe says old buildings contribute positively to the world’s beauty and sustainability and SPAB has always championed the traditional skills needed to look after them.
