July meeting postponed
A meeting due to be held last month (July) to progress the idea of forming an English Stone Forum was postponed to September.
The English Stone Forum, which will eventually be given a different title, was intended to be the outcome of the three-day conference \'England\'s Heritage in Stone\' held in York in March.
A meeting was held in May to progress the idea, after which Professor Peter Doyle said: "I\'m keen that we should evolve from the working party that put the conference together to a working party that will put the forum together." Prof Doyle is the chairman of the Geoconservation Commission of the Geological Society that organised the conference.
He says the July meeting was postponed because of "one or two delays - we don\'t see these as things that are going to cause big problems".
It has always been intended that Stone Federation Great Britain should be an integral part of the forum.
